With COVID-19, it is difficult to gather around with friends in a safe environment. However, with a few items such as a projector, a bedsheet, and some films, you can bring girls night right to your backyard.
Nine months into 2020, and it appears as if this lockdown is never going to end. When are we going to reunite with friends and loved ones at gatherings without wearing a mask? Time will only tell.
Although we are currently unable to attend happy hour with our girlfriends, we can still find fun ways to bring girls night to home. Gather around with a few friends, a bottle of wine, and some popcorn, because here are my top chick flick picks for your next girls night.
Mean Girls
If you haven’t seen Mean Girls yet, stop what you are doing and log in to Hulu. This movie is your typical high school scenario with all the clicks and added drama. Talk about a nightmare. However, who doesn’t love to watch a little drama unfold, as long as it doesn’t involve you, right?
Have you ever heard the saying, “You go Glen Coco?” Well, there you have it. Mean Girls, a funny, quotable, chick flick that will leave you replaying the film for years to come.
Legally Blonde
This movie created the unmindful blonde-haired woman persona. The 90-minute production takes you through the journey of Elle Woods. From being a rich, oblivious, fashion student, to attending Harvard Law for a degree to keep her boyfriend around, this is your typical chick flick scenario.
Will she be able to win her boyfriend back, or will she fail at Harvard Law? Find out all the details on Netflix.
Bridesmaids
Hold onto your popcorn tight, because this film will have you falling out of your seat laughing. The first time I saw Bridesmaids, I nearly thought I had a six-pack by the end of the movie with how many times I was caught giggling over the drama. With actresses such as Melissa McCarthy, you already know this movie is going to be a comedy.
Watch as a bunch of 30-year-old’s fight for the friendship of a bride in this hysterical film. From getting food poisoning in a bridal store to being drugged on an airplane, you are in for a treat.
Clueless
Clueless is the chick flick of all chick flicks. It is right next to The Breakfast Club or Breakfast at Tiffany’s on the must-have watch list.
If you love drama, a little bit of suspense, and are a huge fashion guru, this is the film for you.
The Devil Wears Prada
This iconic film made me want to leave everything behind in the Midwest and book a one-way ticket to New York City. Who wouldn’t want to work for one of the most prestigious magazines in New York and live out the glamorous lifestyle next to the character Miranda Priestly?
Anne Hathaway takes on the role of the new, aspiring journalist, Andy. She portrays the ordinary girl who is struggling to find herself in the big city. Meanwhile, Priestly is someone everyone loves to hate, or honestly, would like to become. The characters live out every girl’s big city dream in this ageless flick.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Without a doubt, this is my all-time favorite movie. The romantic comedy features the dynamic duo, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, in your not-so-classic love story.
This film features a New York magazine, where Andie is covering a piece on…you guessed it, how to make a man fall out of love with you in simply ten days. This film has you sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting to see if Andie and Ben are going to end up together or not, but it also has some knee-slapping, hilarious footage in the film.
Although the chick flick is predictable, it is one that I will continue watching over and over again due to its feel-good comedy and adorable love story.
Sex in the City
I began binge-watching Sex in the City series in my early college days, and let me tell you; I don’t know why I waited so long. It is your ultimate triple threat – the city, the friendships, and fashion. Once I finished the last season, I was left thinking what comes next? Say no more, because four years after the series ended, Sex and the City came out with its first film in 2008.
The producers used the same actresses and took them onto another adventure filled with drama, love, and a lot of gossip. If you love the series as much as I do, the movie is a must.
